Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common questions clients ask before starting a project with us.
What is the creative investment for your video services?
Every project is unique, but we structure our baseline commercial video production into three primary filming-only tiers.
Please note: To keep our base rates cost-effective, these packages cover filming and on-set crew only. Pre-production planning and post-production editing are quoted separately as optional, flat-rate add-ons depending on your creative requirements.

Edit-Ready Rushes (Included): Direct delivery of uncompressed, secure camera-original files to your team.
How do I book you?
1. Fill out the Enquire Now form.
2. We respond within 24 hours.
3. A 50 percent deposit secures your shoot date and begins pre-production.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking 3 to 4 weeks in advance of your desired shoot date. This ensures optimal crew and equipment availability and allows us sufficient time for thorough pre-production planning, creative concept development, and location coordinating. If you have an urgent timeline, please reach out via our contact form and we will do our best to accommodate your project.
Do you travel outside Cambridge and London?
Yes. We work across the UK. Travel and accommodation costs are added to the final invoice.
Do you help with creative direction?
Yes. We can support clients at any stage of the creative process, from initial concept to final style direction. This includes moodboards, lighting plans and overall visual direction.
What is the process for video revisions?
To maintain project momentum and ensure financial predictability, Camber & Core applies a structured revision policy to all post-production workflows.
- Standard Inclusions: Each video package includes a maximum of two sequential rounds of creative revisions. Revisions must be submitted within seven business days of receiving the draft edit.
- Definition of Standard Revisions: Standard revisions encompass minor editorial adjustments, including pacing modifications, lower-third text corrections, audio levelling, and colour balance tweaks.
- Out-of-Scope Alterations: Any requests that alter the fundamental structure of the agreed-upon script, introduce new narrative directions, or require reshooting are classified as out-of-scope. These structural revisions, along with any subsequent editing rounds beyond the standard two, are billed at a flat post-production rate of £75.00 per hour.
What formats do you deliver in?
- Video: MP4, H.264 or ProRes
We can also deliver platform-specific exports for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, websites and other channels.
Do you record audio at events or interviews?
Yes, if requested. We use external microphones for speeches, interviews and live sound. Please mention in advance if audio is required.
Do you keep backups of the project?
Yes. All files are stored on a secure system with mirrored backup to protect against loss. Files are kept for a fixed period, and extended storage is available on request for an additional fee.
Can you film Instagram Reels / TikTok content?
Yes. We film short-form content such as Reels, TikTok videos and behind-the-scenes clips. We shoot vertically or horizontally and can edit to the correct ratio, duration and audio format.
What is some of the equipment you use?
We use professional cinema and lighting equipment including:
- 2× Nikon ZR cinema bodies with a range of lenses
- Aputure Storm 1000c, Storm 80c and Amaran F22X lighting
- Softboxes, C-stands and an 8×8 diffusion frame
- Professional tripods, gimbals and audio systems
- Dual-drive NAS backup after every shoot
Who do you work with?
We work with brands, companies, and agencies. Our services are designed for commercial clients who require professional production and editing for campaigns, marketing, or large scale use.
Can you visit our location beforehand?
For larger shoots, yes. A site visit helps us assess lighting, space and logistics so everything runs smoothly on the day.
Can you work with our branding or marketing team?
Yes. We can work alongside brand managers, marketing teams and agencies to ensure content aligns with visual guidelines and campaign goals.
How do I receive the files?
Final files are delivered via secure online download. You will receive clearly labelled folders organised by scene, outfit or content type for easy use.
How long does the video production process take?
Production time varies depending on the scale and category of work. Some projects can be completed in a single day. Others may require several days or longer when the brief is more involved. Editing timelines also vary, but typically fall between seven and twenty days depending on the volume of material and the required deliverables. If a faster turnaround is needed, we can offer an accelerated schedule for an additional fee.
Who owns the video footage and intellectual property?
The transfer and ownership of media assets are governed by standard UK copyright and intellectual property frameworks. Copyright & Portfolio Usage: Under standard UK copyright frameworks, Camber & Core retains full legal copyright and ownership of all final edited videos, and associated assets generated during production. To showcase our work, Camber & Core retains the right to display final deliverables, behind-the-scenes clips, social media feeds, and digital portfolio. Client Confidentiality & NDAs: We respect client privacy. If your project involves proprietary products, sensitive corporate communication, or trade secrets, we are fully prepared to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). If an NDA is signed, or if a prior arrangement has been formally discussed and agreed upon in writing before the shoot, Camber & Core will keep the assets strictly private and will not display any footage or images online. Client Usage License: Upon receipt of full and final payment, the client is granted a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive license to utilise and distribute the finished, edited video and social and web platforms. Commercial broadcast, theatrical, or paid Over-The-Top (OTT) streaming rights are excluded and must be negotiated separately. Raw Footage Ownership: In accordance with standard creative industry practices, Camber & Core retains full legal ownership and copyright of all raw, unedited camera files, project files, and audio assets generated during production. Raw Footage Acquisition Policy: Should the client require access to the unedited, raw 4K LOG footage for archival or external editing purposes, a Raw Asset Buyout Fee will apply. This buyout requires a flat media transfer and processing fee of £75.00 per hour of media handling required to compile, verify, and transfer the raw archives onto a client-supplied hard drive.
What are your payment terms and booking policy?
To secure your designated shoot dates on our production calendar, we require a 50% booking deposit, which initiates our pre-production planning and creative treatment phase. The remaining 50% balance is invoiced upon delivery and final approval of your edited films, prior to the release of the unwatermarked high-resolution masters.
What happens if we need to reschedule or cancel a shoot?
Within 48 Hours of Shoot Commencement: Cancellations or rescheduling requests made within 48 hours of the scheduled call time are subject to a fee equal to 100% of the daily rate for all booked crew and equipment hires. Between 48 and 72 Hours of Shoot Commencement: Cancellations or rescheduling requests made within this window are subject to a fee equal to 75% of the standard daily crew rate. Between 72 and 96 Hours of Shoot Commencement: Cancellations or rescheduling requests made within this window are subject to a fee equal to 50% of the standard daily crew rate. Waiver Provision: Cancellation fees may be waived or discounted at the sole discretion of Camber & Core, provided that the shoot is successfully rescheduled within an agreed-upon timeframe, and any third-party rental or location booking penalties are fully covered by the client.
Is music licensing included?
Audio design is a fundamental pillar of professional cinema, and licensing structures dictate how assets can be distributed legally. Stock Music Licensing: Standard package rates include the cost of web-only commercial synchronisation licenses for background music tracks. This license permits unlimited distribution across organic social channels, websites, and video-sharing platforms. Paid Media and Broadcast Licensing: If the final video asset is to be utilised as a paid advertisement (e.g., paid YouTube pre-roll, Meta ads manager, television broadcast, or cinema), an upgraded sync license must be acquired. The client is billed at cost plus a 10% administrative fee for these premium licensing upgrades.
How are travel and overnight expenses handled?
All package pricing is calculated strictly on labor and creative production costs; it does not bundle travel, lodging, or subsistence expenses. All travel-related outlays incurred during a project are billed to the client as a direct pass-through expense, supported by itemised receipts. Shoot days requiring heavy grip and lighting gear (including C-stands, soft-boxes, and continuous LED fixtures) necessitate secure vehicular transport. These transit costs are billed at a flat rate of £200 per shoot day to cover dedicated equipment transport and logistics within metropolitan areas. Regional & Lightweight Transit: For lightweight, agile shoot days where crew and equipment travel via rail networks, individual train tickets are billed at cost. Peak-time rail travel is calculated at a standard benchmark of £37-£50+ per ticket per person. Mileage Allowance Reimbursement: In instances where private or crew-owned vehicles are utilised to transport gear to a location, mileage will be invoiced in strict compliance with the 2026/27 HMRC Approved Mileage Allowance Payments (AMAPs) guidelines. Mileage is billed at 55p per business mile for the first 10,000 miles, reflecting fuel, maintenance, and insurance depreciation. On-Location Subsistence: To maintain crew welfare in accordance with professional union standards, a daily subsistence per diem of £25 per crew member is applied to all shoot days extending beyond four hours from base. This per diem covers essential meals and refreshments when hot catering is not provided directly on-site.
Can we add specialised crew like a Steadicam operator?
Yes. Steadicam or gimbal operators, extra camera operators, sound recordists, gaffers and drone operators can be added to any booking. Each is quoted as a separate line item. See the Pricing page.
What is your policy on bad weather and outdoor shoots?
Because outdoor filming in the UK is highly subject to changing weather conditions, we manage weather risks through a structured contingency policy to protect both your budget and our crew. Postponement & Rescheduling: In the event of inclement weather (such as rain, snow, high winds, or extreme temperatures) that poses a risk to the health and safety of our personnel, threatens sensitive cinema gear, or prevents successful video/audio capture, Camber & Core reserves the right to postpone the shoot to a more suitable date and time. Rescheduling Fees & Hard Costs: If a shoot must be rescheduled due to unfavourable weather, the original filming package quote and cost remain unaffected. No additional daily labor fee is charged for the first weather-related reschedule, provided we have at least 24 to 48 hours of notice. However, the client is responsible for covering any non-refundable, third-party hard costs associated with the postponed shoot (such as non-refundable location fees, local council permit costs, or third-party freelance crew cancellation fees). On-Location Protection: For hybrid shoots where filming is already underway on set and weather conditions degrade, the client must assist in providing adequate shelter or cover for the camera operator and gear. Camber & Core is not liable for any specific shots or scenes outlined that could not be safely captured due to weather constraints.
How does Camber & Core structure usage rights, and what is the difference between BTL and ATL licensing?
Under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, Camber & Core Ltd automatically retains the master copyright to all captured raw footage, project files, and final edited media. Upon receipt of final payment, the client receives a structured commercial usage license. To ensure fair pricing based on campaign reach, licenses are divided into two main categories:
- Below-the-Line (BTL) Licensing: Included as standard in the agency's creative fees. This covers organic social media, company websites, email newsletters, internal training resources, and non-paid digital PR distributions.
- Above-the-Line (ATL) Licensing: Required for paid, broad-reach media placements. This covers paid digital display ads, television broadcasts, billboard campaigns, public transport displays, and cinema placements.
ATL usage fees are calculated based on a percentage of the Base Usage Rate (BUR)—the baseline creative value of the individual asset. This model scales according to campaign length, geographical territory, and target audience size.
What is your policy regarding the use of delivered assets for AI training or machine learning models?
Camber & Core Ltd strictly prohibits the use of any delivered final assets, raw files, edit timelines, or draft revisions for training generative artificial intelligence (AI) models, deep learning networks, or machine learning algorithms without a separate, written agreement.
This restriction is built into the agency’s standard terms of use to protect the unique brand identity of its clients and the copyright of its creative work from digital dilution or unauthorised synthetic replication.
How does Camber & Core manage changes to the creative brief or scope creep during a project?
The agency works closely with brand guidelines and pre-production boards to ensure a highly focused, collaborative process. If a client’s internal stakeholders request adjustments to the creative direction, branding parameters, or deliverables mid-way through a project, the production process is temporarily paused:
- The production team evaluates how the requested adjustments affect the project's timeline, crew requirements, post-production edit hours, and overall budget.
- The agency submits a clear change-order document outlining these adjustments for the client's approval.
- Work resumes once the change-order is approved. No additional expenses are ever billed without prior, written client authorisation.
Do you provide subtitles and captions?
Yes. Camber & Core Ltd is committed to ensuring that all delivered media is inclusive and fully compliant with modern digital accessibility standards. During the post-production phase, the agency can produce:
- Subtitles and Captions: High-accuracy, burned-in subtitles or standalone SubRip (.SRT) closed-caption files optimised for major hosting and social media platforms.
How does Camber & Core ensure regulatory compliance with Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) drone laws?
The agency’s aerial operations are conducted in strict compliance with the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulatory framework. All drone operations are supported by a designated commercial Operator ID and individual Flyer IDs, which are renewed and verified annually. For standard urban assignments, the agency deploys ultra-lightweight, sub-250g aircraft within the A1 Open Category, which allows for safe, low-risk flights near uninvolved people (but strictly prohibits overflight of dense crowds or assemblies). For heavy-lift cinematic platforms, operations are conducted under the Specific Category by pilots holding a valid General Visual Line of Sight Certificate (GVC) or the updated Remote Pilot Certificate Level 1 (RPC-L1), enabling flight inside congested residential, commercial, and industrial zones. Every commercial flight is covered by specialist UAS aviation insurance compliant with EC Regulation 785/2004
