Capturing the 2025 Emma Enterprise Pitch Competition

Moving beyond text-heavy descriptions to capture the true energy of practical problem-solving.

Emmanuel College - Film & Photography

01 — Brief

The Context

Emmanuel College’s Emma Enterprise is designed to pull students out of the library and into the world of practical problem-solving. In today’s fast-moving market, students benefit immensely from gaining real-world exposure. However, text-heavy descriptions often fail to capture the real energy of a pitch competition or the collaborative atmosphere of the teams involved.

Our brief was to create a visual library that felt as prestigious as the College itself, yet exciting and accessible enough to encourage a first-year student to sign up for the next cohort.

02 — Approach

The Production

01

The Pitch Narrative

We used our camera setup to document the final presentations. This allowed us to capture the contrast between the nervous energy of the student founders and the professional scrutiny of the judging panel.

02

The Human Element

We focused on candid, natural interactions—capturing the relief of a finished presentation, the intensity of the judges' deliberations, and the genuine excitement of the awards ceremony.

03

Dynamic Stills

We produced photography designed for both high-end print prospectuses and fast-moving social feeds. The focus was on the people and the process—documenting the winners in action.

Why High-End Content Matters for Institutional Strategy

01

Lowering the Barrier to Entry

Entrepreneurship can often feel exclusive or intimidating. By showcasing a diverse range of students presenting their ideas in a familiar college setting, the film acts as a soft entry point. When a student sees a peer or a friend on screen, the psychological barrier is lowered, directly driving higher engagement for future years.

02

Visual Proof for Donors and Alumni

Programmes like Emma Enterprise rely on the support of successful alumni (the 'Champions'). High-quality video content is a powerful reporting tool; it shows donors exactly where their contributions are going. It provides a visual 'return on investment' that a written report cannot match, validating the college's commitment to the Emma Evolves strategy.

03

Multichannel Versatility

Rather than a single, static video, the assets were delivered to be modular and flexible. This approach allows the college to maintain a consistent narrative across various platforms. By tailoring specific cuts for social media, alumni newsletters, and the main website, the core message reaches different demographics effectively, maximising the return on the initial production investment and extending the lifespan of the campaign.
